June 25, 2019
1. Tomorrow students are invited to bring/wear pyjamas and stuffies, as well as an extra snack. This will mark the occasion of our final "bonus treat" for the year.
2. We will be finishing up a bit of work in the morning, as well as attending the Grade Six Graduation Ceremony. During the afternoon we will relax with a movie, and read some more of our current novel, "That Scatterbrain Booky" by Bernice Thurman Hunter. (This is part of a trilogy, and the books are available at the Calgary Public Library if your child is interested in reading or hearing another "Booky" story.)
3. Students will be given their report cards at the end of the day.

- Thank you to the one family who sent in a few loose parts. We need many more, and are hoping that families will search their cupboards and drawers for donations.
- Some students had Math homework today. It is due tomorrow.
- Today Mrs. Mason's class celebrated the completion of the novel, "A Little Princess", by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It is a classic and beautifully written tale. We had an English tea party (because the story takes place in London) and watched the movie.

- Please bring in "loose parts" for an activity that we will be doing in Social Studies. Loose parts are items like: buttons, beads, metal fasteners like screws, ribbon, clothes pins, shaped pasta, plastic gems, paperclips, marshmallows, keys, pom poms, erasers, wine corks, wrapped candy, stickers, bottle caps, fridge magnets, Lego pieces, small plastic toys ... anything of this sort. We hope that you will be able to help us create a wonderful and varied supply of "loose parts" for the students to use.
- A Study Guide will be sent home today so that students may prepare for a Simple Machines test later this week.
- Students were asked to complete the Ask An Adult sheet and return it today. If you did not have a chance, please return it by Tuesday. Thank you for your help with this.

2. Please review all of your multiplication facts. We will have a quiz on all of them on Monday, April 15.
3. Remember to pack a litter-less lunch, and to take wrappers and garbage back home with you.

1. Math practice sheet on estimating with multiplication is due on Monday. This sheet has two sides and students have been asked to respond to both "reflect" questions.
2. Important: Students will be making a tool box for their paper tools. Each student needs a KLEENEX (TISSUE) BOX and a paper tube from either a paper towel roll, plastic food wrap, tinfoil, etc. Three toilet paper rolls taped together will work, but this is not ideal as we have been asked to stop collecting toilet paper rolls for classroom projects for hygienic reasons. Please bring these items by Wednesday.

Please send yellow consent forms to school so that your child may participate in the skiing and snowboarding program at Winsport. The deadline to complete the on-line information for your child is Monday, January 28. Please see the main page of the grade four blog for the link.
Please bring a plastic or cloth bag to school so that you can take your lantern home.
We have enough Pringles cans now (thank you). May we ask you to save the caps from 4L jugs and send them to school so that we can use them in a project.

We will be making an optical device in Science as part of our Light and Shadows work. We will use them during the last week in January. 1. Students were asked to build a stand to display their Forgotten Object recipe card plaque and bring it to school today. Since Mrs. Mason did not remind students on Monday, this plaque holder will be due on Thursday instead. It is to be constructed from "spare parts" and "found objects" that will be repurposed, (Please do NOT use new materials.)

2. Students should build a stand to hold a recipe card sized plaque for our Museum of Forgotten Objects (MoFOB). They are strongly encouraged to repurpose old items rather than using new materials. This should be brought to school by Tuesday, November 6.

5. Muffin Breakfast and Terry Fox Run tomorrow. We will be running outside even if it is cold, so be prepared to be outside (warm clothing).
